Explore a procedural universe governed by user created items.
Generantis is a 2d sidescrolling shooter with a massive tree of procedural items designed by players for players. All the core elements of the game, such as weapons, armor, projectiles, quests, even players are all Procedural items designed by a collection of text files and Lua scripts.
By collecting items from questing and killing monsters, you can place these items in a planet's generator to create a new random planet that features these items.
Because all the items in the game not only define most of the gameplay but are moddable and allow an infinite amount of additional assets, the game's source of content has an astounding amount of potential. This is basically a Game Engine Game.

- Defeat a boss to have him drop himself, which you can then pick him up and put him in another planet with lots of explosive barrel dungeons.
- Steal a valuable sword from a goblin, and farm a planet with those swords to find upgrades.
- Collect a ton of horde quests and spawn 'em in a planet filled with buildings for a chaotic civilization.

Interesting item variety allows for quirky and vast character build combinations.
Since the game gives users a lot of power in the scripting environment, the items and their scripted properties, or Components, modify items and what they do to interesting extents.
An example would be a character who spawns boulders with a weapon or potion, and uses the glove weapon to throw nearby projectiles towards the direction you're aiming for extra damage bonuses. To get the boulders near him, he could use a magnet gun to pull his projectiles closer to him, or he could use a ninja player that can teleport to the nearest projectile with the jump button.
Another example could be a classic horde character build that amasses a giant team of creatures gathered through combat or summoning. One fun build idea is a kamikaze horde build that converts enemies to allies with a special projectile. The converted enemies follow the player around, and with a potion that explodes allies near the cursor, you can command your minions to explode near enemies to deal tons of damage. Possible items of interest in this build would be a command stick that leads your minions around where you are aiming, and wings that occasionally summon a player when used.
There are other neat builds that could happen as well, such as a blade master that catches midair projectiles to gain damage buffs, or an alchemist who uses his potions to spawn chemical attacks like a barrage of poison gas or freezing sprays. In Generantis there are no character classes or leveling, instead there is a great assortment of tools designed for different play-styles.

Planned/Implemented Main Features:
These ideas are subject to changes.
Item progression
Items in Generantis start from the root items, and grow to the more specific and interesting items that tend to offer more potential and power than the last. By collecting items from planets that you like and placing them in the generator, you might find the occasional upgrade from that item to a new, undiscovered item deeper in the tree. If I put an iron sword in the generator, by exploring the new planet I made I could have a chance for one of the iron swords that spawn to instead spawn as a Knight's Sword, for example.
Shadow Bosses
To provide an interesting challenge, Shadow bosses spawn from existing characters in the game's roster in the planets. When a character leaves a planet to create a new planet, They leave behind a shadow who possesses the same stats and items as the character. For other players to travel to that planet, they have to defeat the shadow. The shadows in Generantis are some of the hardest enemies to fight because they work like real players with similar toughness and damage to other characters.
Adventures
Adventures are the challenges one takes to create legendary items and succeed in the game. Create a new character and explore by traveling down one branch of the planet tree. On each planet are a collection of shadow bosses to defeat, each guarding a new planet to explore. Choose which shadow you wish to defeat to travel down that path. If you ever die permanently, your character is saved as a ghost. Complete quests with other characters to gain these ghost followers for the duration of that planet. With a bigger party, the shadows should be easier to defeat. Reach the end of the planet branch to create your own Legendary item or upgrade a current item.
Admin Bosses (not implemented)
Admin bosses are a new form of endgame in Generantis. When gathering and creating legendary items, you can create a planet to match the contents of a recipe in order to have an admin boss spawn on that planet. When mortal characters are created and travel to their last planet, depending on the planet they can find the admin boss there. Admin bosses hold special, powerful items not normally available that your character can obtain, but beware of the dangers of these bosses, they are some of the toughest bosses in the game! Collect items from the boss and create legendaries with them, or hold them on an immortal and make that character a shadow boss for other characters to gain special items from. Killing all the admin bosses will be proof of a 100% completion of the game.
